Queries Sent to Search Providers
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party company that operates that tool. Hardin County Released Inmates does not store or log those query terms on its own system. The provider’s privacy terms govern its handling of the request.
Messages Sent to Us
When a visitor sends an email or contact-form message, we retain the contents and reply details as needed to answer. We do not share the message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Routine site and analytics systems may record technical details when a page loads, including:
- Internet Protocol address;
- browser name and version;
- device category and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent on them;
- the referring website, when supplied; and
- date and time stamps.

Pages link to Hardin County and Illinois records, sheriff and corrections resources, government portals, federal locators, and third-party research tools. After a visitor follows a link, that destination’s privacy policy controls its collection and use of information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select targeted ads. That cross-site processing occurs on the partner’s systems, not in a custody or release record hosted here.

We do not sell personal information. Data may be processed or disclosed to:
- search partners that handle a submitted query;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver and measure ads; and
- law-enforcement agencies or other government bodies acting under a valid legal order.

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect information under our control. No website, network, storage system, or internet transmission can be promised to be fully secure or immune from a breach.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contacts page to request its deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the nature of the request, a visitor may:
- ask for a copy of personal data we hold;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- ask that retained personal data be erased; and
- opt out of certain processing where that right applies.
These requests concern information held by this private site. Illinois public records held by a sheriff, court, or IDOC are governed by the issuing agency and applicable law, including the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, rather than this notice.
Changes to This Notice
This Privacy Notice may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. An updated version takes effect when posted here with a new effective date.
